CARRICKFERGUS business Robinson’s Shoes is set to open a new store in the recently-restored Kelly’s coal offices, overlooking the town’s famous castle.
From March 2, The new outlet shop will feature end of line styles from high-end footwear brands.
Established in the town in 1954, Robinson’s started out as a shoe repair shop. The shoe retailer now sells luxury footwear online and two years ago opened a second store in Belfast’s Queen’s Arcade.
The business is no relocated from its current premises in West Street to the historic castle-front location.
The Kelly’s coal office recently underwent an extensive restoration project with funds from the Carrickfergus Townscape Heritage Initiative, supported by Heritage Lottery funding and the Mid and East Antrim Council.
Robin Stewart of Robinson’s Shoes, said: “We’ve always remained loyal to our Carrickfergus roots. The Kelly’s Coal building has been a landmark in the town for over a century, so when the opportunity came up for us to rent this historic building and simultaneously launch our outlet store it was too good to pass up. We’re extremely excited about this new venture and as a local company are proud to be supporting regeneration in the town.”
