GLOBAL distribution giant Bunzl has expanded its presence in Ireland by acquiring Dublin packaging solutions firm Abco Kovex for an undisclosed sum.
Bunzl Ireland already has a strong presence in Armagh through Bunzl McLaughlin and Bunzl Rafferty, which both specialize in hospitality supplies.
The FTSE100 parent group announced its latest deal as it reported first-half pre-tax profits of £245.4 million on revenues of £4.85 billion.
Abco Kovex, which also has operations in the UK, is principally involved in the sale of stretchfilm, polythene and paper packaging and pallet wrap for use in the food, construction, packaging, foodservice and pharmaceutical sectors.
Its revenue in 2019 stood at €23m (£20.8m). Bunzl said the completion of the acquisition is subject to clearance of the transaction by the Irish competition authority.
