A BELFAST manufacturer has signed a new six-figure cross-border distribution deal.
Dunmurry-based Brookvent, which specialises in energy saving ventilation systems for the residential construction sector, has struck an agreement with Brooks Timber and Building Supplies, which has seven branches across the border.
It follows recent regulations in the Republic regarding ventilation in the residential sector.
Dane Duffy of Brookvent said the firm had spent 18 months developing products in response to the anticipated change.
“It was clear that systemic change in the Irish building regulations was afoot and that mechanical system ventilation in the residential sector would likely become all but a mandatory requirement,
“With this legislation now fully adopted since November 2020, we are in a perfect position to support the Brooks team and [mechanic and electrical customer base with compliant solutions and advice.”
The Belfast manufacturer said Intertrade Ireland’s Acumen Programme had helped the firm appoint an experienced in-market business development manager last summer, which it said proved instrumental in establishing the partnership agreement with Brook.
Brook’s managing director, Mark Lohan, said the company was impressed with the offering from the Belfast firm
