THE owners of the Galgorm Resort have said they plan to open its new hotel and lakeside spa in Co Antrim in June, creating 26 jobs.

The Galgorm Collection bought the former Templeton Hotel in Templepatrick for £7 million in 2018.

The 24-bed venue has been transformed into The Rabbit Hotel & Retreat.

The hospitality group said its total investment in the project has now reached £10m.

A new £2m outdoor spa area includes a lakeside beach complete with heated sand, a lake bar, sunken lounge and cabanas.

Guests can also look forward to Swedish saunas, an aromatherapy steam room, a halotherapy salt chamber and Roman inspired baths and hot tubs.

Galgorm Collection managing director, Colin Johnston, said the hotel has undergone an extensive 18-month redevelopment.

The venue’s new bar and restaurant originally opened in July 2020 after the easing of lockdown restrictions.

The group is planning to open its doors for the entire completed project on June 18.

“Not only does this represent a significant investment in the local economy and cements our longstanding commitment to support and grow our tourism industry, but it comes with 26 new hospitality roles which we are currently recruiting for,” said Mr Johnston.

The re-styled hotel also includes a new banqueting suite and wedding venue The Loft.
