FAST food giant McDonald’s is set to create 65 jobs in west Belfast after being given the green light to open its latest outlet in the city.

The proposed new drive-thru restaurant at the Tesco car park on Ballygomartin Road has been granted planning approval by Belfast City Council.

It comes just two weeks after it emerged that McDonald’s is preparing a fresh planning application to relocate to a new drive-thru in Enniskillen.

McDonald’s opened its 32nd restaurant in Northern Ireland in Derriaghy in October 2020.

The development took around 13 months from planning approval being granted.

The fast food chain is also seeking to develop a new drive-thru at the Tesco site at Newtownbreda on the outskirts of south Belfast.
