GERMAN retailer Butlers Homeware will open the first of two new Northern Ireland outlets in Derry this weekend.
The store, which stocks affordable furniture and home accessories opens in Foyleside on Saturday.
A second store is due to follow in Belfast.
Set up 20 years ago in Cologne, Butlers Homeware now has more than 120 European stores. It opened its first Irish branch in Dublin in 2019.
Foyleside centre manager Fergal Rafferty, said securing Butlers' first tenancy in the north was "a real coup" for the north west shopping complex.
It's the latest boost for the centre following the opening of comestic brand BPerfect's first Derry store last month.
New anchor tenant Frasers is also preparing to officially launch its new department store in the former Debenhams unit this summer.
“We are thrilled to be chosen as the number one NI base for Butlers Homeware and look forward to welcoming customers to our newest store," said Mr Rafferty.
"We are confident that shoppers will appreciate the added choice and variety that Butlers offers, in addition to the great range of stores already trading in our centre.
Butlers director Clinton Nel said the company's presence should help drive footfall at Foyleside.
"Our multi-channel retail strategy helps other independent businesses in the area, even if they are of a competitive nature," he said.
"Our stores are generally destination stores and will drive footfall to the shopping centre.
"Consumers are likely to spend time with neighbouring retailers and cafés as well as our new store, so it’s a win-win situation for all of us.”
