ONE of the world’s most expensive whiskey sets took centre stage in Belfast this week.

Part of the limited edition ‘Emerald Isle’ collection was featured at the Grand Central Hotel during Belfast Whiskey Week on Monday.

It’s the first time the collection has been displayed on the island of Ireland.

Just seven sets in total have been produced by The Craft Irish Whiskey Co in association with Fabergé.

The first recently sold at auction for $2 million (£1.44m).

The set’s 30-year-old triple distilled single malt whiskey is accompanied by a bespoke Fabergé Celtic egg, handcrafted by fourth-generation Fabergé workmaster, Dr Marcus Mohr.

Handcrafted from yellow gold, each of the seven eggs took over 100 hours of work.

The egg also features 104 brilliant-cut diamonds and an uncut emerald.

The whiskey box also includes a Fabergé timepiece

Belfast Whiskey Week runs until Saturday July 31.
