DERRY construction group Heron Bros has announced an investment of around £6.5 million in two manufacturing subsidiary businesses based in Cookstown.

The move, which Heron say is in response to growing market opportunities in the construction, refurbishment and fit out sectors, is expected to result in 30 new jobs over the next 12 to 24 months.

They will include a mix of manufacturing, sales and administrative posts.

Heron Fit Out and Northern Mouldings Ltd, which trades as Promould, are both based on the Drum Road in Cookstown, next to the Greenvale Hotel.

Promould, which has been in business for more than 20 years, specialises in the manufacture of MDF wrapped profiles for skirting, architrave, kitchen components and door frames.

Set up just four years ago, Heron Fit Out specialises in timber fire door manufacturing.

The Heron Bros Group said the investment in new factory facilities and machinery has already seen production capabilities expand by more than 50 per cent.

The group’s manufacturing director, Martin Blaney, said: “This latest investment in our two manufacturing businesses in Cookstown represents a significant vote of confidence in the teams and the products they are delivering to meet changing market demands and new opportunities.

“We have experienced significant growth across both businesses in the last couple of years and believe that by delivering important synergies through this investment we will make both businesses even more innovative and competitive.

“This will now allow us to grow the team and our expertise to help deliver our ambitious growth plans for the manufacturing and supply side of the Heron Bros Group.”
