FERMANAGH manufacturer Tracey Concrete, which has supplied major construction projects in the UK and Ireland for more than 50 years, has reported a sizeable lift to sales and profits.
Figures just filed at Companies House show that revenues in the year to March 31 rose from £27.7 million to £29.5 million.
Its gross profit lifted from £5.3m to £7.2m, and on a bottom-line basis Tracey retained £4.4m, which was up from £2.9m in 2020.
The company, which is one of the largest pre-cast concrete manufacturers in the UK and Ireland, also increased its staff numbers over the year from 170 to 185, with its wages bill in turn rising to £6.1 million.
And at the end of its trading year, Tracey has assets just shy of £25 million.
Tracey Concrete, headed by Patsy Tracey (64), has enjoyed a rising profile in recent years, due in part to its strong association with and sponsorship of Fermanagh GAA.
The business, based at Old Rossorry Road in Enniskillen, is a market leader in concrete pipes, perfect bases, manhole rings, jacking pipes, headwalls and cattle slats.
Tracey has been active on the acquisition trail over recent years, including purchasing a quarry at Gardrum Road in Belcoo from Acheson and Glover.
In a statement accompanying the results, the director said they were "pleased' with the trading performance, but they cautioned: "The economic environment in which the company operates continues to be challenging.
"However, the ongoing strategy of the business is to continue to target profitable contracts, maintain turnover and increase profit margins through cost containment."
