PRIMARK will open its tenth store in the north in Craigavon later this year.

The fashion giant is set to open a 30,800 sq ft outlet in the former Debenhams unit at the Rushmere Shopping Centre.

Speculation over Primark’s potential move to the centre has been mounting since Debenhams vacated its anchor outlet in May 2021.

The retail complex’s owners Central Craigavon Limited have now confirmed that Primark will indeed be its new anchor tenant.

It follows a planning application lodged in recent days to replace the Debenhams signage at Rushmere with Primark lettering.

There are also plans seeking permission to create a new external entrance for the new Primark unit.

The store is expected to open in late 2022.

Speaking to the Armagh I website, Rushmere’s centre manager Martin Walsh said: “Primark is a fantastic addition to Rushmere.

“In all of our research over the years, Primark is a brand that our customers have been very keen to see, and this announcement is testimony to the success of the centre.

“We look forward to the opening later in the year.”

A spokesperson from Primark said; “We are delighted to announce that we will open a new store at the Rushmere Shopping Centre in Craigavon.

“Doors will open later this year and we are excited to be creating a new shopping experience for our customers in the area.”
