SOUTH African food chain Nando's has opened its eighth restaurant in Northern Ireland.

The food chain’s new outlet at Coleraine’s Riverside Retail Park has created around 40 full and part-time jobs.

The chicken eatery, which specializes in Portuguese-style food, opened on Sunday.

It’s Nando’s first new restaurant in the north since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The food group opened its last outlet at The Junction retail park in Antrim in late February 2020.

It also operates 12 restaurants across the broder.

Nando’s regional managing director, Lorcan Feely said: “We cannot wait to open the doors to our new Coleraine restaurant. Riverside Retail Park is a great location - perfect for shoppers for a PERi-PERi pit-stop or those living nearby who want to grab a takeaway.

”A new restaurant also means new jobs and we are delighted the opening will contribute to the local economy here in Coleraine.”
