THE north west’s first and only privately-funded co-working space AMP has signed a formal partnership which will see seed investor Techstart Ventures take up residence in its business incubator at Ebrington Square from January.

Techstart is a leading investor of seed capital in early-stage businesses, and also runs a pre-commercial proof of concept grant fund that supports entrepreneurs in Northern Ireland with funding to explore the viability and commercial potential of innovative concepts.

It will bring a host of benefits for local start-ups including funding, investment, business advice and signposting to both AMP members and alumni.

The new partnership has been forged from a growing relationship this year, with the AMP fuelling and supercharging the business start-up and growth ecosystem in Derry and the wider north west, assisted by Techstart and its NI-wide infrastructure and relationships.

AMP co-founder Ryan Williams said: “This is fantastic news for the AMP, the city and the wider north west. I'm wholly confident this will truly benefit both our members and alumni and begin to act as a sticky magnet to the ever-burgeoning start-up and growth scene across the North West region.

“The team at Techstart has been exemplary with their good will, knowledge, and keenness to expand their footprint and engagement across the sector”.

Jamie Andrews, partner at Techstart Ventures, added: “Our experience in working with the AMP team has clearly demonstrated that there are ambitious early-stage entrepreneurs in the North West region who have the potential to build highly innovative businesses.

“We're excited by this partnership, which will allow us to continue to support promising founders and emerging start-ups from the wider north west ecosystem.”
