TURNOVER at the parent company of Larne-headquartered quarry and minerals processor Kilwaughter Minerals increased by more than 11.5 per cent to £47.9 million for the year to April 30.
That compared to £42.9m the previous year, according to annual accounts for Kilwaughter Holdings Limited lodged at Companies House.
The company is a mineral processor primarily operating in the construction and agriculture industries, making products including through-colour renders, external wall insulation systems, soil health conditioning minerals and livestock bedding lime solutions.
Profits before tax were £9.6m compared to £9.4m in the previous 12 months.
The results were influenced by increased demand in the construction market as the coronavirus pandemic eased off.
The company also invested £2.2m into the business during the year to improve efficiency and increase capacity.
Kilwaughter Minerals chief executive Gary Wilmot said: “The latest set of annual accounts show another strong performance for Kilwaughter and our brands across the construction and agriculture sectors.
“The continued recovery from Covid-19 and the associated lockdowns, during the accounting period, saw increased demand resulting in rising sales across all our key markets.
“Investment continued on multiple fronts including in organisational capability and capital infrastructure.
“With a focus on the changing requirements of customers, we also continue to invest in our product portfolio and we will continue to do so over the coming months and years as we target and reach into new market segments.”
Kilwaughter group’s brands include Kilwaughter Lime, K Systems and K Rend, which is the UK and Ireland’s largest independent silicone render manufacturer.
New product launches include an innovative one-coat, one-pass render product K Mono while Kilwaughter also recently introduced the K Systems A1 Dash, its first A1 fire rated external wall insulation solution.
The company recently opened its K Academy at St Helens, a training facility to combat skills shortage in the construction sector.
The business was named as one of Ireland’s Best Managed Companies as part of the prestigious awards programme led by Deloitte Ireland.
