OSCAR KNOX CUP

:: The eighth annual Oscar Knox Cup is set to take place on Friday September 1 at Belfast’s Fortwilliam Golf Club.

Wee Oscar Knox won the hearts of the public during his two and a half year fight with high-risk neuroblastoma, but tragically he died in 2014 at just five years old. His parents, Stephen and Leona Knox, set up the annual golf day in his memory to raise vital funds for research into the disease.

It brings together golf enthusiasts, corporate partners, philanthropists and sports personalities for a fun-filled day of friendly competition and giving back. Balloo Hire has been announced as the official title sponsor of this year's event.

With the invaluable support of Balloo Hire, this year’s event could be the biggest yet, building on the almost £150,000 raised over the past seven years.

CASH FOR KIDS CORPORATE GOLF DAY

:: Cash for Kids is taking to the greens this September, with the sole purpose of supporting disadvantaged children across Northern Ireland. The charity has launched its first Corporate Golf Day and is inviting budding teams to register their four ball. Taking place on Friday September 15 at Shandon Park Golf Club, players can expect a day of prizes, mini competitions, food, hospitality and of course a great round of golf, all hosted by Cool FM’s very own Pete Snodden and Downtown Radio’s Glen Pavis. NI CHAMBER ANNUAL GOLF DAY

:: The Northern Ireland Chamber will host its annual golf day on Friday September 8 at Malone Golf Club. Delivered in partnership with headline sponsor BT and supporting sponsor MCS Group, more than 100 members of the business community will tee off at the event.

The golf day is designed to help NI Chamber members build networks and make connections in a relaxed setting, whilst competing to win the coveted Golf Challenge Trophy.

HEALTH AND FITNESS AWARDS

:: The new faces on the judging panel of the NI Health and Fitness Awards are encouraging local businesses within the industry to enter the prestigious awards as categories are announced for 2023.

Natasha Daryaie, who runs The Gym Guru personal training and was crowned last year’s female personal trainer of the year, Billy Murray, the east Belfast kick-boxing legend and founder of ProKick Gym, who was last year took home the outstanding contribution to the industry award, and Bubba Ali, four-time Health and Fitness Award winner and owner of Bubba’s Project Gym in Armagh, are all new to the judging panel for the 2023 Awards, which are scheduled for September 23 at the Crowne Plaza Belfast.

TEAMBUILDING SERIES

:: Award-winning US small business expert Brian Moran will lead a four-week workshop series in September for new and existing Northern Ireland business owners designed to help them build solid foundations for their companies.

He will be joined by his co-founder at Bricks or Sticks (www.bricksorsticks.com), top branding and leadership expert Jocelyn Ring.

The first three classes will be held online starting September 4 and the final full day event will be held in-person at Innovation Factory in Belfast on September 29 from 10am to 4pm.

With years of experience in the corporate world as executive director of sales development at The Wall Street Journal and associate publisher with both Inc Magazine and Entrepreneur Media, Brian has gone on to build his own company supporting business growth and development.

Supported by Invest NI, Innovation Factory and Belfast International Homecoming, the workshop’s objective is to help 25 Belfast business owners solidify the foundations of their companies to weather any storm and to ultimately help them achieve their annual goals.

CO3 CONFERENCE

:: The leadership organisation for the community and voluntary sector CO3 will hold its annual leadership conference on September 28 at the La Mon Hotel on the theme of ESG – Sustaining Our Sector.

The event, which will be attended by 250 charity and social enterprise leaders, will consider how environmental, social and governance issues directly impact the sustainability of community and voluntary organisations.

With international keynote speakers, expert panel sessions and educational workshops on a range of topics, the CO3 conference will highlight the opportunities around social value clauses in government tenders.

An expert panel session 'What Social Value means for Community & Voluntary Organisations' will examine how the sector can develop relationships with private sector corporations to their mutual benefit.

HOTEL RISING STARS

:: The Northern Ireland Hotels Federation (NIHF) has teamed up with Ulster Bank to announce an exciting competition aimed at discovering 'Rising Stars' within the hotel sector of Northern Ireland.

This initiative aims to recognise and celebrate young, emerging talent who are making significant contributions to the hotel and hospitality industry.

The competition is a platform to showcase talented personnel, reward those who contribute significantly to the hotel sector's success, and underscore the career potential within the industry.

Entries for the Rising Star Awards opened on August 7, and interested participants can submit their applications through the NIHF website (www.nihf.co.uk).

The winners will be honoured at a special awards luncheon hosted by Pamela Ballantine as part of Hospitality Exchange 2023 at the Crowne Plaza on October 17.

COSMETIC MEDICINE AWARDS

:: The Cosmetic Medicine Awards (CMAs) return to the Culloden Estate and Spa on Saturday December 2.

The only aesthetic awards to take place in Northern Ireland, they were the brainchild of industry professional Lesley McGarrity, who teamed up with PR and event management specialist Michelle McTernan last year to organise the inaugural awards, which were a roaring success.

Sponsored again by Croma Pharma, the CMAs will be hosted by aesthetics royalty Amanda Cameron and local broadcast legend Robin Elliott.
