PLANS have been submitted for the latest regeneration scheme at Belfast’s Upper Crescent.
Husband and wife team Anthony and Andrea Kieran are set to continue their project of bringing the listed 19th century Belfast townhouses back to life.
The couple and their business partner Cecil Hetherington have already completed work on a number of the buildings, launching The Regency in 2022 following a £2.5 million investment, and the £1.5m Crescent One events space, which opened in October 2023.
The guestbook for the five-star Regency guest accommodation already lists former US President Bill Clinton, former US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, and Senator George Mitchell.
The latest plans will see 14 and 15 Upper Crescent repurposed into eight bedroom luxury guest house incorporating associated wellness centre, sensory garden, conferencing facilities, dining areas and a reception.
It’s part of an overall £7m regeneration project from Aurient Ltd.
The townhouses were built by Robert Corry in 1846, representing the only example of a curved terrace in Belfast.
The property at the centre of the proposal had been used for residential purposes until the 1950s, with Queen’s University acquiring the building in the 1960s.
Commenting on the latest development, Andrea Kieran said: “This third phase completes The Regency Collection by increasing our accommodation options, and introducing a food and beverage offering together with an exclusive wellness suite.”
