THE man behind the recently named World’s Best Bar has crowned a Belfast bartender winner of the prestigious Jameson NYC Experience competition.
Sean Muldoon of The Dead Rabbit in New York judged the competition and awarded Nicole Kane from Muriel’s Café Bar in the city with the prize.
The contest pitted eight of Northern Ireland’s best bartending talents against one another and tested them on their taste, product knowledge and cocktail creation.
The winner will be given the opportunity to go behind the scenes at Belfast-born Sean Muldoon’s world-famous pub in New York, which has become a legendary success story in the pub industry since it opened in 2012.
Flights from Dublin for two, three nights accommodation at a 4-star hotel and $1,000 spending money are also included in the prize.
In October last year, Drinks International’s 'The World’s 50 Best Bars' countdown put the New York hotspot at the top of their list.
Speaking at the event on Monday night, Mr Muldoon said he was extremely impressed at the talent on display.
"Belfast never lets us down. There was an extremely high standard of bartending capabilities show tonight," he said.
"Some excelled in particular rounds, but Nicole was fantastic throughout the competition and impressed in every round."
Ms Kane said The Dead Rabbit was "every bartenders dream".
"I’ve been bartending for 10 years and I have always enjoyed Jameson products," she said. "Sean is such an inspiration for the industry too; we all look up to him for what he has achieved."
