North West News Group acquires Co Down magazine publisher 4SM

THE North West News Group (NWNG), which produces the Ulster Herald and Fermanagh Herald newspapers, has announced the acquisition of Hillsborough-based magazine publisher and events company 4SM (NI) Ltd.

The Co Down business produces trade publications including Export and Freight and Plant and Civil Engineer.

The acquisition by the Omagh based media group follows the purchase of Belfast brand and digital printing agency Kaizen in 2021.

The company, which recently celebrated its 122nd year, also owns the Gaelic Life, Donegal News, Strabane Chronicle and ‘WeAreTyrone’ titles.

Hillsborough based 4SM was owned by Garfield Harrison and Helen Beggs who will remain with the company post acquisition.

The managing director of the NWNG, Dominic McClements said that it was an exciting time for both publishing companies and would help create additional growth opportunities for employees and customers in the future across the publishing and events sector.

NWNG’s legal and financial advisors in the project were Arthur Cox and Cavanagh Kelly.
