Co Tyrone developer McAleer & Rushe has been awarded a contract to build a new student accommodation project in Liverpool.
The company will redevelop the site of a former Chinese supermarket, next to the city's Chinatown, into 420 purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) units.
The former Hondo supermarket on Upper Duke Street, located close to Liverpool Cathedral, has been vacant since 2017.
The residential project is the first in Liverpool for the Fusion Group, which currently has 10 PBSA sites.
McAleer & Rushe has already commenced construction on site, with the project expected to be completed by June 2025, in advance of the 2025/26 student intake.
The Co Tyrone firm has delivered over 11,500 PBSA units across the UK and Ireland to date, including in Liverpool, with another 2,500 under construction.
