FRENCH electropop duo Air are set to return to Ireland this summer for a very special live show celebrating their Moon Safari album.

Released in 1999, Moon Safari catapulted Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoรฎt Dunckel to international fame thanks to strange, seductive hits like Sexy Boy, Kelly Watch The Stars and All I Need, which sold millions of copies around the world.

The duo celebrated the 25th anniversary of their most enduringly popular record with a sold-out show at the Trinity Summer Series last year, and today they announced a return to Dublin this summer.

Their show at Fairview Park on June 17 is set to take place โ€œunder canvasโ€, the โ€˜big topโ€™ scenario ensuring that the Irish summerโ€™s fickle weather will not prevent fans from enjoying their recreation of Moon Safariโ€™s sublime sounds.

Having only released one EP prior to the album, few were expecting Godin and Dunckel to deliver such a perfectly realised downtempo electronic oddity - including its creators.

โ€œWe were a duo doing some electronic thing, dreaming of selling 10,000 copies and being recognised by other musicians as cool,โ€ recalls Dunckel.

โ€œThen suddenly, we met the world.โ€

Moon Safari attracted famous fans including David Bowie, Madonna, Beck, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kevin Parker, Sofia Coppola and David Lynch.

Dunckel sums up the album as โ€œa deep, universal spell, full of love and mystery.โ€

Godin concludes: โ€œTo me, Moon Safari is perfect.โ€
