T’Pau singer Carol Decker has been unveiled as the celebrity inside the Tattoo costume on The Masked Singer.

The 67-year-old was voted out of the ITV competition on Saturday after landing in the bottom two alongside Dressed Crab once the contestants had all performed.

Decker told host Joel Dommett she had “loved” her time on the show and she was “gutted” she had been voted off during the show’s superhero special.

“Everybody is amazing. I’m gutted because it’s the best fun ever,” she added.

Decker rose to prominence as the lead singer of pop band T’Pau who had a number of hits in the late 1980s and early 1990s including China In Your Hand, Heart And Soul and Valentine.

She also released the solo single One Heart and took part in the BBC reality singing contest Just The Two Of Us.

The singer competed on Celebrity MasterChef in 2018 and in the entertainment show Hit Me, Baby, One More Time in 2005.

After the audience had voted for their favourite performances, it was revealed Dressed Crab and Tattoo would have to battle to stay in the competition by singing again as they received the fewest votes.

Dressed Crab gave a soulful performance of Drift Away by The Neville Brothers, followed by Tattoo who took on Tina Turner’s classic Proud Mary.

Delivering the panel’s decision on who to save, Maya Jama said it had been the “hardest decision” but they had voted to keep Dressed Crab, sending Tattoo packing.

Before Decker removed her mask, the panel made their final guesses about her identity, with comedian Mo Gilligan opting for Australian singer Dannii Minogue.

Presenter Davina McCall guessed singer and TV host Nicole Appleton and Love Island host Jama thought it could be former EastEnders star Lacey Turner.

Talk show host Jonathan Ross went for Countdown star Rachel Riley while guest panellist Olympian Tom Daley guessed it was TV presenter Kym Marsh.

Earlier in the night, Tattoo performed Human by The Killers, leading Gilligan to think it could be Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall.

McCall also suggested it was Doctor Who star Catherine Tate while Ross considered it might be actress Lesley Joseph.

First to perform on Saturday’s episode was Dressed Crab who delivered a lively rendition of Let’s Groove by Earth, Wind & Fire.

Ross thought it might be American singer-songwriter Nile Rodgers behind the mask, while Gilligan was convinced it was British singer Seal.

Presenters Jama and McCall both thought it could be Pose star Billy Porter and Daley opted for American Idol star Adam Lambert.

The episode also saw contestant Teeth perform Dua Lipa’s hit Houdini, with a number of football references leading the panellist to consider it could be former footballers Alex Scott or Jill Scott.

Kingfisher took on Iris by Goo Goo Dolls with Daley thinking it could be gameshow host Bradley Walsh, while Jama opted for footballer and presenter Dion Dublin.

The last contestant to perform was Snail, who gave a powerful performance of Rule The World by Take That.

The strong vocals led Gilligan to think it could be X Factor star Leona Lewis and Ross thought it might be Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle.

The show sees contestants, who are dressed in elaborate costumes, sing to a panel of celebrities who try to guess their identity and if they are unable to secure enough votes from the audience, and then the panellists, they are unmasked.

Last weekend, American R&B singer Macy Gray was revealed as the celebrity dressed as Bear while athlete Sir Mo Farah was as the star inside the costume portraying host Joel Dommett.

Next week viewers will see all the remaining characters perform together for the first time including Bear, Bush, Dressed Crab, Kingfisher, Pufferfish, Snail, Teeth and Wolf.

The Masked Singer continues on Saturdays on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
