Emma Stone offered to “share” her Oscar both with her fellow nominees and the rest of the ‘Poor Things’ cast and crew.

The 35-year-old actress was recognised with the Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role accolade - which she took ahead of Annette Bening ('Nyad'), Lily Gladstone ('Killers of the Flower Moon'), Sandra Huller ('Anatomy of a Fall'), and Carey Mulligan ('Maestro') - at Sunday's (10.03.24) ceremony and she admitted she found the honour "overwhelming.

She told the audience in Los Angeles' Dolby Theater: "This is really overwhelming. My voice is also a little gone, whatever.

"The women on the stage, you are all incredible and the women in this category. Sandra, Annette, Carey, Lily, I share this with you. I'm in awe of you and it has been such an honour to do all this together and I hope we get to continue to do this together."

She went on to pay tribute to all who had worked on 'Poor Things', including director Yorgos Lanthimos.

She said: "I don't know what I'm saying, oh my God. I'm totally... The other night I was panicking as you can kind of see, happens a lot, that maybe something like this could happen and Yorgos said, 'Please take yourself out of it' and he was right because it's not about me, it's about a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts, and that is the best part about making movies, it's all of us together and I am so deeply honoured to share this with every cast member, every crew member, every single person who poured their love and their care and their brilliance into the making of this film.

"Yorgos, thank you for the gift of a lifetime in Bella Baxter, I'm forever grateful, thank you for inviting all of us to be members of this team."

Emma ended her speech with a message for her family.

She said: "I know I have to wrap up but I just want to thank my family, my mom, my brother Spencer, my dad, my husband Dave, I love you so much. Most importantly my daughter, who is going to be three in three days and has turned our lives technicolour. I love you bigger than the whole sky my girl , thank you so much."

When she first got on stage, Emma had admitted she had "broken" her dress during Ryan Gosling's performance of 'I'm Just Ken' and as she turned to leave the stage, she exclaimed: "Don't look at the back of my dress!"
