Cookstown, Fr Rocks book place in Ulster Club semi-final at St Paul’s

The Tyrone side will face holders Four Masters in the last four

COOKSTOWN came out on top in a thriller of a quarter-final at St Paul’s that needed extra-time.

Little separates the teams early on with Mayobridge edging out in front 1-1 to three points after 15 minutes.

Fr Rocks stayed within arm’s length of their Down opponents but it was ‘Bridge that ended up going in front at the break, leading 1-4 to 0-5.

In the second half, the Tyrone side managed to fight back, holding Mayobridge scoreless in the third quarter and levelling the game.

At the end of normal time, nothing separated the two sides, with the score at 0-13 to 1-10 and teams needing extra-time to decide who goes to the Ulster semi-final.

Cookstown scored five points in the first 10-minute period of extra time to give themselves the upper hand, while Mayobridge were held to a single score.

The second half was cagey and Cookstown got the only score to set up a semi-final with Four Masters on St Stephen’s Day.
