After a mixed start to the season, Down are looking to leap up to third place in Division Two of the Allianz National Football League with a win against Meath.

Having lost to Roscommon on the opening day and coming back to beat Cork last weekend in Pairc Esler, the Mournemen are eager to get their promotion push back on track against a Meath side that has also had mixed fortune so far this year.

The reigning Tailteann Cup champions have gotten into their groove with the FRC’s new ‘rule enhancements’ with Pat Havern kicking 19 points so far in this campaign out of Down’s total of 45, however, this is still only the fifth highest points total in the league, trailing league leaders Monaghan by 18 scores.

Meath’s first two games tell a similar story to that of Down, with an opening-day loss to Cork away followed by a 10-point win against Cavan at Pairc Tailteann.

Meath will be looking to take full advantage of this even match-up with two of the three matches coming up for them being against the top two sides in the division in Roscommon and Monaghan.

Jordan Morris will be a danger man for Meath having got 1-8 so far this year for the Royal County across both games.
