Gabriel Bannigan’s Monaghan will travel to newly-developed Tempo on Saturday January 18 for a challenge match against Fermanagh.
Tempo Maguires have labelled the event as ‘historic’, with their new floodlights equipped for a 5pm throw-in. The club last hosted an intercounty fixture back in 2008 when Fermanagh took on Louth in the Allianz League.
The Erne County - Division Three finalists in 2023 - were relegated to the third flight alongside Kildare last year despite a final round win over Cavan.
Monaghan for their part will operate outside the top tier for the first time since winning Division Two in 2014, with Aughnamullen clubman Bannigan taking charge of his side for the first time against Mayo on Saturday.
The Tempo club have invested £750,000 in their grounds in the last half a decade, with a community walkway amongst their other new facilities.
A spokesperson for the club said:
“The club is grateful for funding received from the Landfill Communities Fund to help deliver this phase of the project, along with financial contributions from Ulster GAA.
“This project could not have happened without the continuing generosity of the many members of the Cairde Tempo scheme, which has funded the majority of works in recent years, along with considerable fundraising initiatives undertaken by the club.”
The statement went on to outline that all proceeds for the match will go towards the local Air Ambulance charity as well as Tempo Maguires GAC.
Admission to the match is via donation.
