Ryan Scollard: Able to stroll out the pitch in the first half, even assisting O Cofaigh Bryne’s point. Directed kick-outs well to his big men, despite Errigal standing off the short option. Was barely troubled – while Harte’s goal was simply unstoppable. 7
Danny Conroy: Pushed up early on but mostly stuck to watching one or other of the Canavan brothers, before being subbed. 6.5
Michael Fitzsimons: Provided the pop pass to Doran for the opening goal and was an assured presence in defence. Also eased pressure by carrying ball out of defence. 7
Eoghan O’Callaghan: Started on Darragh and stuck tightly to him. A tenacious marker throughout against other Errigal forwards. 7
Eoin Kennedy: Instigated the moves for the first two goals but didn’t do enough defensively as Errigal came roaring back. 6.5
Charlie McMorrow: Carried the ball impressively out of defence on a few occasions but found it tougher going when asked to curtail Errigal in second period. 6
David O’Dowd: Assisted the first goal, netted the second with a lovely finish, and moved quickly for a second half point. 7.5
Peadar O Cofaigh Byrne: An immense performance from the big man, especially in the first half. Bullied Ben McDonnell, scored a goal and a point, and dominated possession around the middle. 8.5
Peter Duffy: Took some big catches and made some forceful runs. Importantly, clipped over a score to interrupt Errigal’s second half charge. 7.5
Cillian Dunne: Another powerful physical presence for Cuala, turning over possession and covering plenty of ground, putting Errigal on the back foot. Influential in attack before the break. 7
Conor O’Brien: Involved in opening score and dropped back to help Cuala dominate the middle third in first half. First man replaced for the Dublin side. 6
Cal Doran: So often the link man, he was on the end of the move to despatch the opening goal. Kept Colhoun quiet and won some good ball. 7
Luke Keating: Gave the final pass for the second goal, converted two frees, and his movement was lively – notably when he pointed to ease some pressure in the second half. 7
Niall O’Callaghan: Opened the scoring and had a great first half, ending it strongly too, having constantly stretched the Errigal defence. Much less effective in second period.7
Con O’Callaghan: Up against Cormac Quinn, still somehow found room for two simple scores in his tally of 0-5. Also set up the third goal and launched the counter-attack for the concluding score. 8
Substitutes:
Conor Groarke: Battled for ball and popped up to calmly fist over the final point that made sure of victory. 7
Michael Conroy: Came on for Dunne but could not turn the tide of the game back in his side’s favour. 6
Cathal O Giollain: Replaced Conroy and helped steady defence in frantic closing minutes. 6.5
