O’Carroll, Fallon and Frost outstanding as Roscommon champions battle to the brink

Cormac Sheehy: Caught out of position when Glass hammered a brilliant shot past him deep in the second half to turn the game. No chance with the first goal, dealt well with the high ball and picked out runners with his kickouts. 7

Alan Daly: Broke into space twice in the first half to win kickouts and unlock Glen’s press. Brilliant block on Danny Tallon early in the second half summed up a committed performance. 7

Brian Stack: He was marking the ever-dangerous Danny Tallon and out-scored him. Got a point and kept Tallon scoreless. Fumble before first goal but couldn’t ask much more. 7.5

Pearse Frost: A wholehearted warrior, he shaded his duel against Alex Doherty. Tired tackle conceded late free that allowed Glen to take the lead in injury-time. 8

Ruaidhri Fallon: Points in either half for the attacking wing-back who was up against Ethan Doherty and did his defensive job well. Leapt to win the kickout at the death as Brigid’s pushed for an equaliser. 8

Ronan Stack: The 2013 veteran is still motoring well. He held the centre of the Brigid’s defence but had his hands full with the tireless Conleth McGuckian. 6

Paul McGrath: Pushed up onto Ciaran McFaul and he chased and harried him throughout the game. McFaul scored a point but McGrath did his job. 6

Eddie Nolan: Lost Glass for the goal that changed the game but he acquitted himself well. Quick and mobile, he scored two fine points to push his club to the brink of glory. 7.5

Shane Cunnane: Scored one free in injury-time, missed the second but it was a tough ask at the end of a Titanic struggle in which he locked horns with Emmett Bradley. 6

Conor Hand: The half-forward line was the engineroom of the St Brigid’s team. Covered a lot of ground in the cause although Jody McDermott gave him the slip for his goal. 6.5

Ciaran Sugrue: Carville had to stay alert to keep a lid on him in the first half. Ghosted into a pocket of space to curl over a first half point. 6.5

Robbie Dolan: His accurate kick-passing caught the eye and he used the ball creatively. Good understanding with O’Carroll and was instrumental in Derwin’s goal. 7.5

Ben O’Carroll: Gave Michael Warnock a torrid time of it in the first half and scored three points. Should have buried his goal chance but didn’t drop the head and set up Derwin for his goal, Ryan Dougan kept him quieter. 8.5

Brian Derwin: He had Ryan Dougan for company but lost him when he thumped home the St Brigid’s goal early in the first half. Added a point with a stupendous finish. Surprise when he was taken off. 7

Bobby Nugent: Dropped deep to help out around midfield and worked hard for his club. Also got forward to score a point. 6

Substitutes:

John Cunningham: Replaced Derwin after 45 minutes and worked hard to close down the Glen shooters. 6

Conor Gleeson: A ball winner in midfield when he replaced Nugent four minutes from time. 6
