Muff’s Naomh Padraig couldn’t succeed where Errigal Ciarán failed by bringing an All-Ireland title to Ulster as they lost to An Cheathrú Rua at Croke Park.
The Donegal and Ulster junior champions would have become the first side from Donegal to win the championship, but An Cheatrú Rua brought a third All-Ieland junior title back to Galway.
The game started in slow fashion, with four minutes passing before the game’s first score, a free from Naomh Padraig’s Kevin Lynch.
An Cheathrú Rua pushed themselves into the lead before Uisce Chaoin got head five points to three as the halftime whistle went.
In the second half, it was more of the same from both sides with a total of nine points scored in the half hour.
In the end, it was the side from Connemara side who came out with the All-Ireland title, after scoring an injury-time point to seal the victory.
The side representing Uisce Chaoin made it to the hallowed turf of Croker after a nervy penalty shoot-out win over Kilmurry at Parnell Park in Dublin.
The three-time Gaeltacht football championship winners An Cheathrú Rua defeated Ballinagar in their All-Ireland Junior Club Football Championship after Paudie Mac Cormaic sent over a sensational winning point from the narrowest of angles to send the Gaeltacht club through to GAA HQ.

This game is part of a triple-header at Croke Park today, as Dublin take on Antrim in the national hurling league and Mayo in a clash of division one heavyweights to start the inter-county season off.
This game will be the second to last game played under the old gaelic football rules as the FRC’s enhancements are also enforced in today’s national league fixtures.
