The GAA’s centenary year of 1984 proved an historic year for the Association but was one of mixed emotions for Omagh St Enda’s. The red brick clubhouse at Healy Park was officially opened on October 6 but before that there had been a couple of disappointing championship final losses, a reserve title, and a Tyrone senior handball success.

That mixed Centenary year though will be celebrated on Saturday October 5 this year when players from all the teams of 40 years ago are invited for a night of reunion, nostalgia, and memories at the newly refurbished clubrooms.

The event, part of the club’s ‘Marking Our Past’ series will bring together the reserves that won the championship, the seniors that lost to Ardboe in the final at Dungannon, and the minors that also just came up short on the same day.

The progress of the club’s hurlers and camogie sides from 1984 and Omagh’s one and only Tyrone senior handball champion John McCullagh will also join in the celebrations that also mark 40 years of the new clubrooms, the brainchild of the late Jackie Martin, which were officially opened by Phil Smith from the Ulster Council.

Club President Paddy McMahon and the club committee have issued an open invitation to all club members and friends to come along with proceedings of what will be a very informal night getting underway at 8pm with a buffet and refreshments.
