RIAN O’Neill has returned to Armagh’s starting line-up for Sunday’s pivotal All-Ireland Group One, round two clash with Derry at Celtic Park (4pm).
The Crossmaglen midfielder missed last weekend’s five-point win against Westmeath with a calf strain but has been passed fit for the Bogside clash. Barry McCambridge – a late call-up to start against Dessie Dolan’s men – retains the number two jersey while his Clann Eireann clubmate Tiernan Kelly switches to half-forward with Joe McElroy replacing the injured Conor O’Neill at wing half-back.
Victory for Armagh will see them move to four points and set up a potential shootout for top spot in the group (and an automatic quarter-final berth) with Galway, who travel to Mullingar on Sunday (3pm).
After back-to-back defeats against Donegal (Ulster quarter-final) and Galway (round one) Derry will be desperate to kickstart their season. Defeat would mean Mickey Harte’s NFL winners would no longer be able to top the group and would go into the final round needing to beat Westmeath to qualify for the knockout phase.
