Danske Bank Mulholland Cup final

Lismore College 1-6 St Patrick’s, Lisburn 2-10

ALTHOUGH Lismore dominated the opening 15 minutes of this Danske Bank Mulholland Cup final in terms of possession, they only registered a single point against a well-structured Lisburn defence.

By contrast, St Patrick’s were more economical and broke for crucial scores that left them four up at the break and well on their way to a first title at this level after collecting Corn Cúchulainn last May.

Conor Dowds hit the net in the 15th minute and added a second goal seven minutes later. The pace of Eoin Morris was causing Lismore problems; he clipped over three points in each half, all from open play.

It took a goal just before the break from Liam Stevenson to leave Lismore in with a chance of getting something from the second half.

However, although Odhrán McCann hit the target for three points, the Craigavon school were always chasing the game. Morris and Dara Campbell kept chipping away at their confidence with points while Christopher McGarry was always prodding and prompting.

It’s a huge achievement for the Lisburn boys to lift a title last year, move up a grade and complete that competition without losing a game. However Lismore will feel that they didn’t really get going and were caught too often on the break.

Lismore O McCann 0-4; L Stevenson 1-0; P McKeown & D McCord 0-1 each

St Patrick’s E Morris 0-6; C Dowds 1-0; D Campbell 0-3; R Arthurs 0-1
