Dungannon struck late to claim another dramatic Tyrone SFC victory, stunning Loughmacrory with a 64th minute goal to snatch a semi-final spot right at the death.

It was substitute Conor McKee who punched home the precious winner to deny an opponent that had led for much of an enthralling Plunkett Park contest.

Led by Eoin McElholm, whose possible move to the AFL could rob new Tyrone manager Malachy O’Rourke of one of his most exciting attacking talents, led Loughmacrory’s charge towards a first ever semi-final appearance, but the dream disintegrated in those heart-stopping closing moments.

Loughmacrory, organised at the back and strong in the middle third, dominated possession for spells while playing into the wind in the first half, picking off a couple of terrific scores through Eoin McElholm.

By the end of the opening quarter, they had built up a 0-3 to 0-1 lead, with Matthew Quinn on target for the Clarke’s.

But Paul Donaghy burst into sparkling action, landing a wonderful point from wide on the left and converting a fee to level the scores by the 22nd minute.

Both sides were set up to prevent goal opportunities, and it took the St Teresa’s 12 minutes and lots of recycling to craft their next score, McElholm sending them in with a 0-4 to 0-3 advantage at the break.

The tie exploded into action in the second half, sparked by a brilliant move and an equally clinical finish to the net by McElholm for the game’s first goal after three minutes.

Five minutes later, a booming kick-out caught the Clarke’s short at the back and Ronan Fox raced away to send Gareth Donaghy in for Loughmacrory’s second goal.

The Clarke’s responded with scores from Donaghy and an inspired cameo from substitute James Quinn, who fired over three points.

Still, they trailed by five with eight minutes to play, but with Patrick McKearney pressing from deep and slicing holes in the St Teresa’s defence, they continued to press, Donaghy bringing the sides level from a free.

Ruairi McCullagh shot what looked to be the equaliser for the Lough, but in the 64th minute Patrick Quinn sent in a dropping ball, and substitute Conor McKee got a fist to it for a dramatic winning goal.
