Tyrone have been dealt a blow for the start of the 2024 season with the news that Kieran McGeary is set to be on the sidelines.

The 2021 Footballer of the Year had a hernia operation a couple of weeks ago and is definitely out of the McKenna Cup. He is also likely to miss the opening game or two in the National League.

McGeary was instrumental in Pomeroy’s triumph in this season’s Tyrone Intermediate Championship producing a number of top notch displays at full forward to help his club return to Senior football.

Tyrone begin their NFL campaign with a home tie against Roscommon on January 28th before they come up against former manager Mickey Harte a week later when they travel to Celtic Park to take on Derry. After that there is a fornights break before back to back home games against Connaught duo Galway and Mayo which could be realistic targets for Kieran’s comeback.
