AFTER the weekend’s action we now have the match-ups for the piece de resistance of the club season and it is an Ulster-filled field again.
All three of the All-Ireland finals will take place in Croke Park
Errigal Ciarán v Cuala (Sunday, January 19 at Croke Park)
Errigal Ciarán were first up as they played Dr Crokes in Newbridge and it was a proud day for the Canavan family as the brothers Ruairí and Darragh dominated the Kerry and Munster champions, winning 2-18 to 1-18.
However, Joe Oguz’s goal proved to be the difference between the sides in the end as Tony Brosnan’s free-taking proved to be a constant thorn in the Tyrone champions' side.
This year’s senior final will be between two sides who have no previous experience at this stage, with Cuala, first-time champions of Dublin and Leinster, defeating Coolera-Strandhill of Sligo to make the trip back down to Dublin to take on Errigal.
Ballinderry v Crossmolina Deel Rovers
At the intermediate level, Ballinderry’s status as All-Ireland finalists had been decided before this weekend, with the Derry side winning out against Austin Stacks of Kerry and will now face Crossmolina Deel Rovers of Mayo at Croke Park.
Rovers defeated Cragh of Kildare in their semi-final in the snow to set up their All-Ireland final date.
This game was due to take place on Sunday, however, a death in the Crossmolina community meant that the game was postponed.
The details of the re-fixture are yet to be confirmed.
Naomh Padraig, Uisce Caoin v An Cheathrú Rua (Saturday, January 25 at Croke Park)
The junior All-Ireland final has now been set up as Naomh Padraig, Uisce Caoin from Muff defeated Cork opponents Kilmurry in Parnell Park in Dublin.
The Donegal side started off slow with Lawrence Aisling’s goal setting the tone for the half but it was a black card for Tomás Collins that got Uisce Caoin back in the game, Naomh Padraig rallied in the second half to force extra -time and then penalties.
Kevin Lynch, Caolan McColgan, and substitute Rory Hirrell all converted their penalties, while only Conor Kelleher found the net for the Rebels from Kilmurry.
The Donegal side will face An Cheathrú Rua at Croker after the Galway side beat Ballinagar 1-9 to 0-11 at Dr Hyde Park in Roscommon to take their place in the Junior final.
