Teamkit Antrim Senior Camogie Championship: Dunloy 4-19 Ballycastle 0-7

DUNLOY had little bother in booking their place in next weekend’s Teamkit Antrim senior camogie semi-final after they dominated their final group game against Ballycastle on Saturday.

They led by 0-12 to 0-3 at half-time with Nicole McAtamney claiming seven scores, the first five from placed balls. Katie Molloy and Áine Magill weighed in with two points each.

Less than two minutes into the second half, Molloy placed Cassie McArthur for the opening goal and then fired home two goals of her own.

Ballycastle fought bravely throughout but Dunloy’s movement wore them down and Molloy topped off a fine individual performance by setting up Áine Magill for the fourth goal a couple of minutes from time.

Dunloy now face Cushendall in the semi-final with Loughgiel already in the final a fortnight later on October 13.

Dunloy: K Molloy (2-2), Á Magill (1-4), C McArthur (1-1), N McAtamney (0-10, 0-7 frees), B Magill (0-1), E McAllister (0-1 each)

Ballycastle: E McIntosh (0-5, 3 frees), F Kelly (0-2

Mannox Cavan Senior Championship: Castletara 1-4 Crosserlough 1-8; Lacken 1-8 Laragh 1-11

DENN didn’t have a game on Saturday evening in the Mannox Cavan senior championship, but results in the two games played sent them through to the final the weekend after next.

This Thursday’s semi-final will feature Crosserlough and Laragh, both sides narrow winners on Saturday.

Crosserlough were in Ballyhaise to face Castletara and it turned out to be a low-scoring dogged encounter with the teams level on 1-4 each with six minutes remaining. However two points each from Hannah Boylan and Sinéad McKenna saw the holders over the line.

Boylan was her side’s goal-scorer as well 12 minutes into the second half and, given the difficulty in finding scores, that looked to be the decisive score until Emma Mulvaney popped up with the equaliser for Castletara in the 53rd minute.

Both goal-scorers ended up with 1-4 each and were the key players for their team. All Boylan tally came from open play while frees from Mulvaney kept the outsiders in with an outside chance of making the semi-final.

Meanwhile in Lacken, a goal and two points in the first quarter from Sinéad Levingston, put Laragh in command and they went on to lead by 1-8 to 0-5 at the interval with the Keenaghan sisters adding points in the second quarter.

Frees from Róisín O’Keefe and Eimear Brady cancelled out two points from Aislinn Keenaghan and one from Emma Plunkett during the second half, but Lacken didn’t manage to reduce the half-time gap until the 58th minute when Lucy Crowe’s goal set up a grandstand finish.

However Laragh were able to see the game out and reach the semi-final just ahead of their opponents on the head-to head rule.
