A goal from Chloe Nic Oirc 90 seconds after the re-start in Cargin yesterday evening propelled Coláiste Feirste to their first ever Ulster schools’ camogie title at the expense of St Colm’s Draperstown.

The Ard na bhFeá Gaeilgeoirí dominated the second half, holding St Colm’s scoreless while the accurate long-striking of Ayesha El Ouahata gradually put daylight between the teams.

That was all in contrast to the opening half when Nic Oirc also goaled early on. St Colm’s recovered from that set-back and, had their shooting been a little more on target, they would have been ahead at the break instead of trailing 1-3 to 1-2.

The Draperstown goal came from Lily Anne Reid in the 20th minute, but they were made to pay for their ten wides when Nic Oirc doubled Coláiste Feirste’s lead early in the new half.

El Ouahata fired over four quite brilliant points from outside the 45m line.

Indeed when Róisín Ní Bhrádaigh found the net in the 50th minute for their third goal, her team already had one hand on Sciath Aoife.
