Patrick Collins Didn’t have much chance with any of the goals. Ever alert to race out and snuff out danger and saved smartly from Tony Kelly in extra time. 7.5

Niall O’Leary Stuck closely to David Reidy, who didn’t score until late in first half, and then only once more. 7

Eoin Downey Struggled to contain Aidan McCarthy once Clare got going. Marked a series of Clare men in second half and scored a great point. 6.5

Sean O’Donoghue Strong on Mark Rodgers initially and the captain never gave up but was outpaced for second Clare goal and eluded by Kelly for his major too. 6

Ciaran Joyce Out on Shane O’Donnell and did well at first, before his man sparkled. Got on top again and made important block on Fitzgerald in extra time as well as notching a point. 7.5

Robert Downey Scored one of the great goals after a catch and powerful run, firing in an unstoppable shot. Free at times but covered across well from flank to flank. 7.5

Mark Coleman: Had a terrific battle with David Fitzgerald, both scoring three points. Important interception deep into injury time in normal time to lead to leveller. 7.5

Tim O’Mahony Began brilliantly with the opening score, and added two more in second half. Gave his all before late substitution. 8

Darragh Fitzgibbon Found it hard to escape the attentions of Cathal Malone until scoring levelling point at end of first half. Pushed up late in second period and forced a point but also shot two wides. 7

Declan Dalton Barely got on the ball against David McInerney, not tracking him, and struck two wides before being taken off. 5

Shane Barrett Posed early problems for John Conlon, grabbing two scores, but was second best thereafter despite plenty of effort. 7

Seamus Harnedy: A mixed bag against Diarmuid Ryan, who rattled two rapid points, but Harnedy got four himself, before a hamstring problem forced him off. 7.5

Patrick Horgan Slow to get involved but his accuracy from frees took him to the top of the all-time list – and then some. Incredible shooting to score 0-13, including three from play. 8

Alan Connolly: Found it hard going against Adam Hogan, even though his marker was yellow-carded early on, and only scored once. Booked following a tussle with McInerney. 6.5

Brian Hayes: The Barr’s man showed plenty of movement across the forward line but Conor Cleary was always close to him and held him to 0-2, one of those points after a superb take. 7

Substitutes

Ethan Twomey Looked lively as a replacement for the ineffective Dalton but was guilty of a couple of extra time wides. 6.5

Jack O’Connor His late wide in normal looked very costly but he didn’t make an impact after the reprieve of extra time. 6

Shane Kingston Scored two points from play in the first period of extra time. 7

Robbie O’Flynn: Almost through on goal but was felled by McInerney. Pointed in extra time – but had a high shot saved and then struck his second wide at the death, although looked to be fouled. 7

Tommy O’Connell: Fouled for the last-gasp free that forced extra time. 6.5

Damien Cahalane: Came on in defence but struggled to get into game. 5.5

Ger Mellerick Brought on for captain Sean O’Donoghue and booked after a tangle with Kelly. 6

Luke Meade Not on long enough to be rated
