Toyota has unveiled a new Urban Cruiser, reviving a name which was first used in the early 2000s.
The new car, which is due to complete its public debut at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show, will launch in the UK during the third quarter of 2025.
Incorporating a chunky design, the Urban Cruiser measures just over 4.2m long and 1.8 wide, while its cabin has been created to allow plenty of flexibility to help with either passenger or luggage space. For example, the rear seats can be slid forward and back, or even folded down thanks to a 40:20:40 configuration.
From launch, the Urban Cruiser will be available with a number of battery and motor options. A 49kWh battery version will kick things off and will be linked to a 142bhp electric motor on the front axle. Additionally, there will be a front-wheel-drive model with a larger 61kWh battery and 181bhp electric motor.
There will also be an all-wheel-drive version with a 61kWh battery and 181bhp electric motor. Toyota says that all versions will get a heat pump equipped as standard, too, which helps to boost efficiency by enabling the car to reach peak operating temperature in cold conditions. Toyota has yet to state how much range the Urban Cruiser will deliver, however.
Inside, the Urban Cruiser incorporates a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display alongside a 10.1-inch infotainment system. Toyota has said that the Urban Cruiser will also be available with a dedicated app which will allow owners to check battery charge state and even locate nearby charging stations.
The Japanese brand says that a number of other features, such as a powered driver’s seat and upgraded JBL premium audio system will also be available when the car comes to market. Further details about range, price and specification are expected to be announced shortly.
