James Richardson puts his best foot forward and tests a pedicure set from No7

YES, YES, I know. A man testing a pedicure set does seem a little strange, but I enjoy a good massage and spa as much as the next metrosexual, and after a summer of wearing flip-flops, a five-day wellie-fest at Glastonbury and a good bit of pavement pounding, my rugby-battered feet need some TLC.

The No7 Pedicure Set is battery powered (handily, the batteries are included in the box) and a size that ensures there's still plenty of space in the bathroom cupboard for my wife's ridiculous number of lotions and potions. It comes with three attachments, each offering different results - soft, softer and softest.

I plumped for the roughest attachment as my cracked heels and flaking skin are in a terrible state, but I imagine the delicate soft feet of the opposite sex may prefer the less harsh options.

After a good soak in the bath (or footspa, if you have one), I get to work whizzing the gadget over my hard skin. It tickles and I'd like a little more power, but instantly improves the look and feel of my soles, heels and toes.

I decide to ignore the advice on the box, suggesting I should finish with No7 moisturiser and a slick of nail varnish, but for the first time in a good while, I have soft, happy feet.

* No7 Pedicure Set, exclusively at Boots, currently on offer at £12.49 (normally £24.99).
