THIS year marks 150 years since Lewis Carroll first told the story of Alice in Wonderland; an anniversary celebrated with Disney’s hotly anticipated Alice Through the Looking Glass and, closer to home, an Alice in Winter Wonderland-themed window and product range at gift shop Utopia in Belfast's Fountain Centre.

There is Alice-themed tableware including cups and saucers, cake stands and teapots – perfect for hosting your own Mad Hatter’s tea party. You can carry your Christmas shopping in whimsical tote bags emblazoned with Alice characters and designs made up of words from the Lewis Carroll text.

If you've been to Utopia you'll know it's renowned for original Christmas decorations that you won't find elsewhere. This year’s selections include a Bollywood-themed collection of baubles, hand painted by a women’s collective in India.

The collection's colour palette includes the traditional reds and golds of Christmas, together with wonderful greens and turquoises and purples suggestive of more exotic climes.

Utopia recently held a special Winter Wonderland event, inviting bloggers and journalists to step through the looking glass to check out its selection of gift ideas, homeware and Christmas decorations.

With over 30 years of heritage, Utopia combines the nostalgic with the contemporary – the perfect place for unique, special gifts.
