STORYLAND, RTE's regular showcase for new Irish film-making, is back with four new short dramas available exclusively online via the RTE Player.
Now in its seventh series, Storyland 2017 includes the Aidan Largey-directed A Sign of Things featuring Nigel O'Neill (Bad Day For The Cut, Game of Thrones), a tale of sin, self-assertion and provocative advertising in Carrickfergus set against the harsh economic uncertainties of Brexit, and Cry Rosa's racially charged coming-of-age story set in 1980s Belfast, directed by Imogen Murphy and featuring Martin McCann (Maze, The Survivalist).
New talent featured in the 2017 strand includes an impressive screen debut for Cork's Kaci Power O’Driscoll (11) in the comedic unemployment-themed drama On The Hemline and a confident lead performance by Grace Fleming (11) in Cry Rosa.
Northern Ireland Screen chief executive Richard Williams said; "We are delighted to be working in partnership with RTÉ once again to develop local storytelling skills through Storyland.
"This is Northern Ireland Screen’s third year to be involved with this fantastic initiative, which allows us to create opportunities for, and invest in, a new generation of creative talent."
