AMAZON Prime Video's excellent original series Sneaky Pete returns next week for a second season of identity theft-themed comedic crime drama starring Giovani Ribisi as a confidence trickster with a conscience.
In series one, ex-con con artist Marius Josipovic (Ribisi) was posing as his still incarcerated cellmate Pete Murphy in order execute a particularly daring long-con involving the latter's lucrative family business in bail bonds – needless to say, things didn't quite go according to plan.
However, when we last saw the ever resourceful 'Pete', he appeared to have got away clean from both his con and a nail-biting showdown with vengeful crime boss Vince (Bryan Cranston, also co-creator of the show) – right up until a couple of heavies bundled him into the boot of their car.
These salty dudes also think Marius is Pete, and are demanding he helps them track down Pete's long-lost mother and the millions she stole from the family business – or else Pete's kindly grandfolks Audrey (Margo Martindale) and Otto (Peter Gerety) Bernhardt will suffer the consequences.
Thus, now Marius must use all his conman cunning to try and find Pete's mother and protect the Bernhardts, all while keeping them from discovering his true identity: with the added wrinkle that the real Pete has just 'accidentally' escaped from prison.
Series two will become available on Amazon Prime Video on Friday March 9 – sign up and catch up on series one now at Amazon.co.uk
