IN THIS week’s instalment of Celebrities, They’re Just Like Us we turn our attention to Mark Wahlberg with a special focus on his exercise regime.
You might know Mark from such films as Boogie Nights (for which he has sought God’s forgiveness), Daddy’s Home, Daddy’s Home 2, Ted and Ted 2 or as Marky Mark from Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.
Mark takes his craft very seriously and spends long periods of time in the gym lifting heavy things so that, on camera, he looks like a man who spends long periods of time in the gym lifting heavy things.
Now, conveniently for anyone wishing to emulate Mark’s success, he has revealed his daily routine. Ladies and gentleman, Sleb Safari presents to you, the most Mark Walhberg of timetables:
2.30am wake up
2.45am prayer time
3.15am breakfast
3.40-5.15am workout
5.30am post workout meal
6am shower
7.30am golf
8am snack
9.30am cryo chamber recovery
10.30am snack
11am family time/meetings/work calls
1pm lunch
2pm meetings/work calls
3pm pick up kids at school
3.30pm snack
4pm workout
5pm shower
5.30pm dinner/family time
7.30pm bedtime
Three things give Sleb Safari pause.
One: He dedicates 30 minutes to a game of golf. Is he playing crazy golf?
Two: 90 minutes for a shower? Might he perhaps be slipping back to bed for an hour?
Three: A 7.30pm bedtime? What is he, a toddler?
You will notice that Mark snacks a lot and if you’re wondering whether you should be munching on the same things after your no doubt equally exhaustive workouts, read this:
"I start out with steel oats, blueberries and peanut butter for breakfast.
"Then I have a protein shake, three turkey burgers, five pieces of sweet potato at about 5.30 in the morning.
"At eight o'clock, I have about 10 turkey meatballs. At 10.30am, I have a grilled chicken salad with two hard boiled eggs, olives, avocado, cucumber, tomato, lettuce. Then at one o'clock I have a New York steak with green peppers.
“At 3.30pm, I have grilled chicken with bok choi. At 5.30/six o'clock, I have a beautiful piece of halibut or cod or a seabass, with some vegetables, maybe some sautee potatoes and bok choi. And I have a lot of Aquahydrate during the day. That's it."
That’s it? THAT’S IT??? That’s breakfast, lunch and five dinners every day. No wonder he’s never out of the gym.
Between the work outs, cryo chamber recovery and the erroneously titled ‘snacks’ Mark has proven yet again that, just like Rod Stewart and his love of high street store Zara, celebrities are just like us. Lol
Crazy Rich Asians is as good as it gets
A few weeks Sleb Safari was raving about the Crazy Rich Asians’ trilogy and tipping the film to be a good 'un.
Having now seen the film Sleb Safari can say, hand on heart, that it’s the perfect rom-com, and the most vibrant, opulent film with a beautiful cast and glorious multilingual soundtrack.
If you’ve read the book you can rest easy, the film does it justice and the characters bounce off the pages and on to the screen.
Honestly? Sleb Safari would give it five stars.
Billy On The Streets
HAVE you ever watched Billy on the Street? It's ace.
And the good news is that it’s back and you can watch Billy Eichner running up and down the streets of New York with a celebrity in tow accosting people. Check it out via www.youtube.com/user/billyonthestreettv
