The best time to take your medication
This week: Vitamin D
VITAMIN D is essential for healthy bones, teeth and muscles, but as the main source comes from sunlight on the skin, many of us suffer from a deficiency in autumn and winter.
As the nights draw in, health bodies recommend that adults and children over the age of one take a daily supplement containing 10mcg of vitamin D.
As vitamin D is fat soluble, it doesn’t dissolve in water and is absorbed best when paired with fatty foods. So if you have your main meal of the day in the evening, this is probably the best time to take your supplement.
