Marie Louise McConville: Evening walk in the sunshine ruined by cyclist

What a week it's been.

Ok, so the cost of diesel is still through the roof and buying a loaf of bread and a pint of milk will leave you broke but the sun made an appearance, after what seemed like a lifetime.

I'm not sure where Mr Sunshine has been on his extended break but finally, he decided to make a most welcome return and I don't know about you, but it certainly lifted my spirits.

Even though it hasn't been the warmest, there's still something about the big ball of yellow in the sky which does us the world of good.

So, not knowing how long it would be sticking around, Darren was sent to cut the grass, put the trampoline back up after the series of storms and wash down the garden furniture.

And it wasn't long before the kids were in the back garden breathing in some sunny, fresh air.

The brighter evenings also prompted me to go for a nice long walk.

While I'm still doing my boxercise classes, I just felt I wanted to take advantage of the lovely weather so off I went.

It was really nice passing other walkers, some with their children and some with their dogs, it was almost as if life was returning to normal - or as near as it can.

Once I got a good bit out the road I turned to come back and it was then that my pleasant evening walk met a not-so-nice conclusion.

In the distance, on the other side of the road, I saw a cyclist who seemed to suddenly stop on the roadside.

I thought maybe he had suffered a puncture or had to take or make a phone call - I wish.

Nope, he seemed to think it was okay, on a main road, where children were walking, to just go to the toilet.

There he was with his bits and pieces hanging out for us all to see, and it was on a bright evening, around 5.30pm.

Don't get me wrong, while I'm not a cyclist, I do know that when you have to go, you have a go, but it seemed to me no effort was made to find a more private place - behind a tree, behind a bush - and I was totally disgusted by what I saw.

I am only thankful I didn't have Abbie with me.

I really felt it was just a really irresponsible thing to do.

While I would have loved to have given him a good dressing down - excuse the pun - I decided just to ignore his actions and carry on home.

While I had enjoyed the walk, listening to my tunes, I really did not need to see this man's bits.

I really hope the arrival of the sun doesn't make more people lose their inhibitions.

Goodness knows there's enough trauma going on in the world at the moment - we don't need anything more suffering at home.

ITV reality show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! is to reportedly air earlier than usual this year so it doesn't clash with the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The popular show, which will this year return to Australia after moving to North Wales for the last two years, is to move from its late November slot.

Sources told The Sun that it "makes sense to keep them apart".

"The last thing anyone wants is for viewers to have to choose between the latest from the jungle and a big game".

TV actress Daniella Westbrook is hoping to make a soap comeback - in Coronation Street.

The EastEnders actress, who is best known for playing Sam Mitchell in the famous square from 1990 to 2000 and from 2009–2016, said she would "love" to take on a role in Corrie or Emmerdale.

The announcement comes after EastEnders bosses recently announced that Sam Medcalf, who played the role of Sam Mitchell from 2002 to 2005, would be returning to EastEnders as the Mitchell daughter.

Daniella Westbrook then threatened to sue the BBC over her character being recast.

However, the 48-year-old actress has said she is now "looking to the future".

Speaking about her ambitions on GB News, she said: "EastEnders was great, I grew up in front of the nation. But it's in the past. I am so RIP Sam Mitchell!

"I would love to do Emmerdale or Corrie. I would also love to get back into stage acting where it all started for me. I will be 50 next year and I'd love to one day play Momma in Chicago".

During the interview, the actress also said she understands why people might think she doesn't deserve any more chances.

"I will never take my condition for granted. I had 14 years of being clean then relapsed so I will always say, every day, that I am in recovery".
