COLUMBANUS: To mark the 1,400th anniversary of his death, a lecture on the life and legacy of Columbanus will take place in St Macartin's Cathedral, Enniskillen at 7.30pm today.
The keynote speaker will be Fr Billy Swan, an expert on Columbanus and other aspects of Celtic Christianity.
All are welcome to attend this journey of discovery into the life of Columbanus.
LYNDA'S PATH: Television presenter and journalist Lynda Bryans will be the speaker at the weekly healing service in St Anne's Cathedral, Belfast on Monday November 16 at 8pm.
Her theme will be 'My Path of Faith' and Brother David Jardine, one of the organisers of the service, said that he expected Ms Bryans to talk about mental health - an area in which she campaigns and about which she speaks candidly from her own experiences - as well as more broadly about "her whole growth in faith, and how that has impacted every part of her life".
"Lynda is a very popular speaker when she comes to St Anne's Cathedral, as well as having a warm and friendly personality," he said.
"I have no doubt that his will be a great service."
TRIDIUM: The annual Tridium for the Holy Souls at Cuan Mhuire on Dublin Road, Newry starts next Wednesday, November 18, and continues to Friday November 20.
Each evening there will be the Rosary at 7.30pm and Mass at 8pm. The Cuan Mhuire residents' choir - which has been practising hard in recent weeks - will enhance the liturgy.
Tea, coffee and light refreshments - including delicious in-house baking - will also be served each evening. All welcome.
RECONCILIATION THREAT: Peter Osborne, the chairman of the Community Relations Council, has called for a strengthening of the structures supporting reconciliation, which he says are "currently under threat".
"Resourcing is increasingly scarce and short-term," he says in the organisation's annual report.
"Despite doing some transformative and courageous work within and between communities, many organisations are struggling to survive and some are going to the wall. The reconciliation infrastructure is eroded at our peril."
On a positive note, Mr Osborne noted that "government and civil society, working together, can achieve so much". And with the council marking its 25th anniversary this year, he said: "We look ahead to the next 25 years with renewed optimism, greater determination and refreshed hope."
Jacqueline Irwin, the CRC chief executive, added: "We must not underestimate the importance of deliberate acts of peace building this far into our peace process. The job is not done.
"Fatigue and indifference are the great dangers now. This is the context in which peace can falter."
CANCER: St Patrick's Church in Derrygonnelly holds a Mass for the sick each Wednesday at 7.30pm, with a particular focus on those with cancer and the intervention of St Peregrine, the patron saint of cancer patients.
