FORMER Adoration Sisters turned tour guides Elaine Kelly and Martina Purdy are adding new dimensions to their St Patrick's Way pilgrim experiences next year.

These include a canoeing adventure along the Quoile, a new coastal walk including Ballyhornan to St Patrick's Well, a guided bus tour and the option to explore the area on horseback.

"We are working really hard to ensure that the experience is truly amazing, giving life, energy and joy to all those who walk with us," said Martina Purdy.

"These walks are a great way to get out and enjoy the beauty of nature, the wonder of God's creation and meet some interesting new people.

"It is the walk of your life to some of hidden treasures in Co Down - the Irish camino on your doorstep and without the hassle."

Dr Tim Campbell, director of the Saint Patrick Centre in Downpatrick, said gift vouchers for the St Patrick's Way experiences would be a present "which will lift any heart this Christmas".

As well as Ms Purdy and Ms Kelly, the St Patrick's Way team includes Jean O'Neill, who leads the Irish language tours and Duane Fitzsimons, "who transports pilgrims back in time through St Patrick and the Pagan Hills".
