LEADING TV actress Angela Lansbury has put paid to rumours that she could be making an appearance in the next series of Game of Thrones.

Reports had claimed the 90-year-old Murder, She Wrote star would enjoy a brief stint in the fantasy-drama series, and fans were incredibly excited.

But her team has now shot down the claims, telling Entertainment Weekly that, no, she will not be appearing in Game of Thrones’ seventh series next year.

According to German publication Bild, sources said that the acting legend had been cast in two episodes, with four days of filming planned.

No details about her supposed role were revealed at the time.

Dame Angela has won an honorary Oscar, five Tony awards, six Golden Globes, a Bafta and an Olivier Award, and has played pretty much every role in a career spanning seven decades.

Meanwhile, Game Of Thrones fans can still rejoice in the knowledge that another acting favourite – Jim Broadbent – WILL be making an appearance in next year’s series of the show.

The Bridget Jones’s Diary star was recently confirmed as a cast-member, although there are no details yet of his “significant” role.
