FOLKTOWN Market are preparing for the summer with a new outdoor street food event in Belfast city centre.

The Street Food Circle will bring artisan foods, crafts and music complete with synthetic grass and picnic areas to Bank Square from next week.

The new monthly evening food market begins on June 3 from 5-9pm and will be held on the first Friday of every month until September.

Folktown director Sophie Rasmussen said: "The Street Food Circle is about reclaiming the streets, enjoying amazing local food and music outdoors.

"Our large marquee will be up in case of the occasional drop of rain, but we are bringing the countryside into the city with grassy picnic areas on the square.

"We want people to relax, enjoy good food and company and soak up the chilled sounds of our DJs from Underground Records."

Among the stalls offering a range of delicious delicacies will be Pizza Box, Sarah's World Fare, Spud Shack, the White Rabbit Coffee Co and Mourne Seafood.

Folktown Market is also teaming up with Slowfood NI and its chair Paula McIntyre, who will be demonstrating food skills on June 30.
