CO DOWN distillery Rademon Estate is celebrating having won a trio of Awards for Shortcross Gin at The Gin Masters 2016.

The distillery swept the board at the prestigious competition, which attracts entries from leading spirits brands across the world.

Shortcross Gin beat off stiff competition to clinch the Master accolade in the Ultra Premium category, whilst Shortcross Cask Aged Gin and Shortcross Gin Wild Clover Edition each picked up Silver Awards in the Cask and Contemporary categories, respectively.

Glendalough Distillery in Co Wicklow also took home a Silver Award in the Organic category for Glendalough Wild Spring Botanical Gin.

Founded in 2012 by husband and wife team Fiona and David Boyd-Armstrong, Rademon Estate Distillery is located at the couple’s historic family estate just outside Downpatrick.

David Boyd-Armstrong said the couple were “driven by a passion to create the finest premium spirits in Ireland.”

“We are so proud of the success of our three Shortcross Gin expressions at The Gin Masters,” he said.

“We are driven by a passion to create the finest premium spirits in Ireland and these awards are a testament to the energy, love and commitment we put into crafting our Shortcross Gin.”

The first batch of Shortcross was released in 2014 to great local acclaim. Earlier this year the distillery also released Cask Aged Shortcross Gin and Shortcross Gin Wild Clover Edition. The distillery has also announced that it had laid down the first casks of a new Irish Malt Whiskey, the first bottles of which are expected to be released in summer 2018. There are also plans to open a unique visitor centre at Rademon Estate later in 2016.

Fiona Boyd-Armstrong said the distillery has big plans for the future and “can’t wait to bring forward new innovations, releasing more new and exciting premium spirits.”

“We are delighted that our products continue to strike a chord with gin lovers locally, nationally and internationally,” she said.

“The overwhelming response to the release of our limited edition Cask Aged and Wild Clover editions earlier this year was incredible – it’s wonderful to see our vision coming to life.”
