A WhatsApp group for breastfeeding mums in Newry and south Down has been a lifeline for many women. An anxious mum is guaranteed that another parent will be available to chat at any hour of the day or night, such are the whims of infants.
One of the mums was struggling with breastfeeding her baby and caring for a toddler when she received word that someone, who wished to remain anonymous, had gifted her a reflexology session.
The generous gifter explained that she had made the gesture in the spirit of the pay it forward scheme and, since then, other mums in the group have received the gift of reflexology.
One woman who belongs to the WhatsApp group said that "if it wasn't for the support of the breastfeeding group I would not still be feeding".
"I feel indebted to the group, to the girls who told me 'this is normal' and 'it will get better' and pulled me through at 3am in the morning - many of whom I have never met!"
